Employee Motivation Factors- A challenge for the Organization
What according to you would motivate your employee to stay with your organization and contribute effectively? Getting employees to go that extra mile and work for the organization has remained a challenge all over the world. With changing trends, motivational factors also require a lot of work and thinking. A good package, along with impressive bonuses will definitely compel an employee to join you, but might not be sufficient to hold him/her for long.
Motivational factors are not just about money. Organizations need to go beyond that and need to work on what would appeal to their employees. A tedious task of course considering the fact that what appeals to one employee need not appeal to another. But it does wonders to the growth of your organization. While money does excite employees, the force that compels and motivates employees towards better performance lies in creating the right kind of work environment. A few simple factors such as a fair and structured compensation plan, provision of all facilities that are required for an employee to perform better, and a helping and supportive hand when required can work like magic in pushing the graph of performance higher. Taking initiative to make the employees feel they are valued, being objective while assessing their performance, empowering and encouraging them to discuss their opinions, appreciating them for their work, and trusting and letting them handle responsibilities are also a few factors that will be very helpful in achieving employee satisfaction.
Respecting the interests of your employees and helping them grow personally and professionally requires a manager with true leadership qualities. Identifying the true interests and strengths of each employee and supporting their development is very important. This builds a trust of bond which motivates the employees to give their best to the organization and excel in their performance.
